Today, everything happens online. From buying groceries to ordering food, we all use the internet. This is where Digital Marketing comes in. In simple terms, it is a way for small and large businesses to promote their products or services online.

1. Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

SEO means optimizing your website so that it comes on top when someone searches on Google or any search engine.

For example, if someone searches “best college in Bangalore” and your website shows up at the top, that means your SEO is working.

How does it help?
When your website comes first, more people will click, visit, and maybe become your customer. This organic way ensures you get regular customers for your product & service.

2. Social Media Marketing (SMM)

This is about using social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Twitter to promote your brand or product.

Why is it powerful?
You might know some popular influencers online; they have their own brand. By starting their initial career as an individual & building a brand around it they use it for converting audience into consumers.

Ex: Virat kohli, who is one of the most prominent figures online platform, has his own way of promoting his products such as one8.

3. Search Engine Marketing (SEM)

SEM is paid marketing on search engines like Google. If you type “Best Phone to buy under 10k,” there might be 3-4 ads displayed, each with a tag ‘sponsored.’ That particular website owner has paid Google to display their website ahead.

It is helpful for new businesses.

4. Email Marketing

Email marketing is sending emails to your customers or interested people. You would have experienced this from Amazon or Flip kart, once you do a shopping they will have your data & further convert you into another product consumption.

5. Content Marketing

Here, you create contents in form of blog & article. Like say you are owing a cricket academy & write your experience about ‘Best bat to buy’, this will gain you authorization in Google.

6. Affiliate Marketing

In this method, third people (called affiliates) promote your product. If a customer buys your product through their link, they will get a commission.

Many YouTubers and bloggers earn money through affiliate marketing by promoting products on Amazon, Flipkart, etc.

7. Influencer Marketing

This is very popular now, especially in India. Here, businesses tie up with social media influencers who have many followers. These influencers talk about the brand, use the product in videos or posts, if their followers are attracted to their talk… They might buy the product.

This method works well because people trust influencers more than ads.
